What is the hierarchy of OKRs and Metrics?

In Oboard, the hierarchy of your strategic elements is now built using "Components," which can be either Objectives or Metrics. This flexible structure allows you to align your strategic goals from the highest organizational level down to individual contributions, ensuring clarity and focus across your teams.

Classic OKR Hierarchy

Objective supported by Key Results or Metrics and can be aligned with other Objectives.
The case: it’s used when only the Key Results/Metrics define the success of the Objective.

Advanced OKR Hierarchy

When a company needs flexibility for any reason, e.g. Team Objectives are nested to Key Results/Metrics, it’s possible to activate this schema in the settings.
When the option is active, then in the “Parent Item“ field the KRs and other Metrics will be also available for search.
⚠️If an objective is nested under KR/Metric and is contributing to it, then the KR/Metric progress is calculated automatically based on the Objective’s progress.

Advanced Hierarchy Example

How to Align Objectives

Open Objective or KR form, Find the “Parent Objective“ section, and select the one you need.
You can search for it by name or full id.
It’s possible to toggle the contribute option on, then the Objective will affect the parent grade.
