Creating Strategy Components

Creating Strategy Components

You must have Plugin Admin rights to see the Components tab.

In Oboard, "Components" are the new foundational building blocks for organizing your strategic goals and initiatives.
This new framework replaces the previous "OKR Levels" and offers a more versatile and intuitive way to structure your objectives, metrics, and other strategic components.
They allow for a flexible hierarchy, enabling you to align individual team efforts with broader organizational strategies.

Types of Components

When you create a new Component in Oboard, you will select its type. The two primary types of Components are:

Objective: An Objective represents a high-level, ambitious goal that your team or organization aims to achieve. Objectives define what you want to accomplish.

Metric: A Metric is a measurable outcome that tracks progress. Metrics define how you will measure success towards an Objective, or they can function as standalone performance indicators. This category includes what were previously known as Key Results.

Creating a Component

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Open “Components” tab

  3. In the creation form, you will be prompted to select the Type of component: "Objective" or "Metric".

  4. Provide a Name for your Component.

  5. (Optional) Assign an ID and Color to help with organization and visual identification.

  6. If creating a Metric, you can specify whether it can be created without a parent, and progress options.

  7. Select the Workspaces in which the Component will appear.

  8. Hit “Create”

The order of Components

You can define in which order you'll see the components everywhere (filters, explorer tab).
Just use the DnD option and set the correct order.

Limitations

To delete a component, it shouldn't be used anywhere, meaning there are no items/elements with such a component available across all the workspaces.
