How to migrate OKR Board from Server/DC to Cloud Jira

Due to Jira deprecating Server licenses, we will be unable to provide further support to our OKR Board for Jira Server customers after February 24, 2024. To continue receiving support, you need to transfer your Jira instance to Cloud or Data Center.

To migrate your instance to Jira Cloud without losing your OKR Board for Jira data, follow the instructions:

You have to be a Plugin administratior to be able to do migration

  1. Set Up a Jira Cloud instance.

  2. Install Jira Cloud Migration Assistant

  3. Follow the Cloud Migration Guide

  4. Once you have transferred your Jira instance data to Cloud, return to the Server and open OKR Board for Jira.

  5. Make sure there is no Workspace with the same name on your Server/DC and Cloud OKR Board. If you have a Workspace with the same name, migration will not proceed.

  6. Go to Debug mode on your Server/DC instance.

  7. Click the "Download" button next to "Export to .zip". Save the downloaded file.

  8. Open the Debug mode on your Cloud instance.

  9. Click the "Upload" button next to "Import from .zip" and select the file from Step 7. Your settings, tasks, users, and other data will be transferred in their entirety.
It can take from 2 to 10 minutes to import.

WARNING: Do not import the .zip file (Step 9) without first completing the Cloud Migration Guide (Step 3). You should have the same data set on your both Jira instances. You will break things and might lose some data in the process. Oboard is not responsible for potential data loss if these instructions weren't followed correctly.
