What is the hierarchy of OKRs?

The plugin supports two main OKR hierarchies.

Classic OKR Hierarchy

Enabled by default

Objective supported by Key Results and can be aligned with other Objectives.
The case: it’s used when only the Key Results defines the success of the Objective.

Classic Hierarchy Example

Advanced OKR Hierarchy

Needs to be enabled in the settings section.

When a company needs flexibility for any reason, e.g. Team Objectives are nested to Key Results, it’s possible to activate this schema in the settings.
When the option is active, then in the “Parent Item“ field the KRs will be also available for search.
⚠️If an objective is nested under KR and is contributing to that KR, then the KR progress is calculated automatically based on the Objective’s progress.

Advanced Hierarchy Example

How to Align Objectives

Open Objective or KR form, Find the “Parent Objective“ section, and select the one you need.
You can search for it by name or full id.
It’s possible to toggle the contribute option on, then the Objective will affect the parent grade.

How to Activate Advanced OKR Hierarchy

Navigate to the tab “General“ and Enable the “Allow Linking Objective to KR“ option.
